About
Specialty Welding, Inc.
We are a general
contracting firm specializing in welded
fabrication and repair services. Our scope
of work includes mechanical, structural
and miscellaneous metals. The majority of
what we do involves the fabrication,
installation and repair of piping systems,
material moving equipment, building
structures, ladders, stairs, catwalks and
equipment support structures.
The company is "R" stamp certified by the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers
and the National Board of Boiler and
Pressure Vessel Inspectors. We are
authorized to perform pressure vessel
repairs and alterations. Our shop
refurbishes, modifies and
repairs both pressurized and
non-pressurized vessels for a variety of
industrial processes.
Company
History
The company was formed in 1986 by its
present owner, John Laughery. From startup
in a dirt-floor shop, the company has
grown steadily through the years in size
and work scope.
In 2006 John acquired the facilities and
property of Flodin, Inc.*, which was a
food processing machinery manufacturer.
Specialty Welding, Inc. is now located on
6 acres, with 20,000 square feet of
fabrication shop floor space, and adjacent
offices for management and administrative
staff. Its fleet of equipment includes
rolling stock such as boom trucks,
manlifts, forklifts and job service
vehicles. We keep a good supply of
structural and miscellaneous metal
materials on hand, plus piping and all
types of accessories.
SWI also offers industrial general
construction contracting services.
Although we self-perform most of our work,
we have a capable network of
performance-proven sucontractors for
handling other scope items, such as
excavation, concrete, electrical and HVAC.
Our client base is founded primarily in
local chemical, manufacturing and food
processing plants. Locally, we provide
field installations and repair services.
But, our company also performs fabrication
and shop repair services for a wide
variety of customers located across the US
and Canada. In addition to our
work for manufacturers and processors, we
also perform miscellaneous metals
fabrication, mobile equipment repairs,
decorative metal work, signage and many
other items for walk-in customers.
Specialty Welding, Inc. employs both Union
Pipefitters and merit shop structural
& miscellaneous metal fabricators. Its
craft workforce averages 22 employees.
Our services may be provided either
by lump sum quotation or hourly rates.

* Flodin, Inc. closed its doors in
2007. SWI purchased the facility and
property, but not the business.
Specialty Welding, Inc. still holds the
Flodin machinery design drawings, and
can supply some fabricated replacement
parts. However, no other service or
warranty of any kind is offered for
Flodin equipment.
